Help Save the Hershey's Mill Dam

The Friends of East Goshen Historic Dam Preservation have come together to work with Legislative Leaders, the DEP, the East Goshen Board of Supervisors, and the Community to Save the Hershey’s Mill Dam, the Adjacent Pond, and Beautiful Waterfall!.

Hershey Mill DamIn 2006, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) classifeid the Hershey’s Mill Dam as a C-2 Dam. The current dam structure does not meet the discharge capacity necessary to accommodate safely the recommended design flood of a C-2 dam.  The general concern is that during a substantial rain storm, the dam could breach unexpectedly and cause damage to Greenhill Road (via washout) and other property downstream.

So What is the Issue?
In order comply with the DEP code, the Hershey's Mill Dam will need to be updated.  The East Goshen Township Board of Supervisors has put it's faith in the Community.  We are working with the BOS, Legislators, and the DEP to raise money and develop the most cost effective option to keep the dam in its present condition.
